November in LA: The List I’m Sending to My Besties
Mariah Carey can have December. For now, we’ve got brunch dates, live music, art, culture and plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy LA.
My November list takes us from a creative morning in Larchmont Village to an after-dark museum visit in Exposition Park, with stops for Ethiopian food, show jumping and a concert on the Sunset Strip. There’s something for the group chat, something for a family outing and a few plans worth booking ahead.
Here’s what’s on my radar for November in Los Angeles.
A Little Scrapbooking. Some Big Ideas.
FRĒDA SALVADOR × Chamber of Mothers in Larchmont Village
Sometimes the best way to start a conversation is with a table full of paper, pictures and possibilities.
This Election Day, FRĒDA SALVADOR and Chamber of Mothers are hosting a morning of vision board making and connection at the brand’s Larchmont store. The invitation is to imagine the community you’d like to help build over the next decade, then put those ideas on the page.
It’s a thoughtful reason to step away from your screen, spend time with other people and make something. Ten percent of event proceeds will support Chamber of Mothers. FREDA SALVADOR
When: Tuesday, November 3, 9–11 AM
Where: FRĒDA SALVADOR, 115 N. Larchmont Blvd., Los Angeles
Let’s Brunch: Majordōmo × Max & Helen’s
A Larchmont Favorite Heads to Chinatown
A good brunch plan rarely needs much convincing. A two-day collaboration between Majordōmo and Max & Helen’s makes the decision even easier.
Larchmont’s diner is joining Majordōmo for a special weekend featuring four collaboration dishes. Ten percent of proceeds from those dishes will benefit Hollywood Food Coalition, giving your catch-up over brunch a little extra purpose.
Make a reservation, gather the friends you’ve been meaning to see and give yourselves an afternoon without a packed agenda afterward. momofuku.com
When: Saturday and Sunday, November 7–8, 11 AM–2:30 PM
Where: Majordōmo, 1725 Naud St., Los Angeles

Celebrate Sigd at the Skirball
An Evening of Ethiopian Jewish Food, Music and Community
For a November outing centered on culture and connection, the Skirball’s Sigd celebration deserves a spot on your calendar.
Hosted by Beejhy Barhany and Jonah Platt, the event celebrates the Ethiopian Jewish holiday through ritual, food, music and storytelling. The afternoon begins with a communal ceremonial walk through the grounds, followed by an evening featuring a traditional Ethiopian meal, a coffee ceremony and live music from Anbessa Orchestra.
A conversation about heritage, home and belonging will be recorded for Platt’s Being Jewish podcast. Younger guests can also take part in a children’s arts table. Skirball Cultural Center
When: Sunday, November 8; ceremonial walk at 4 PM, evening celebration at 5 PM
Where: Skirball Cultural Center
Admission: The ceremonial walk is free and open to the public. Evening tickets are $72 general admission and $36 for children ages 2–17.

A Different Kind of Horse Show
Show Jumping, Food and a Little Shopping at Santa Anita
You don’t need to follow equestrian competition to find a reason to spend a day at Santa Anita this month.
Two weeks of international show jumping bring top riders to Arcadia, alongside food, shopping and experiences that make it a full outing. Depending on the date and ticket, options include Delilah hospitality, Wally’s wine experiences, Market Row shopping and wellness activities.
For families, weekend programming includes a Pony Paddock with activities such as horse-mane crafts and build-your-own bouquets. Choose your day around the experience you want—individual activities and hospitality packages have different schedules and access requirements. santaanitaequestrian.com

Where: Santa Anita Park, Arcadia
Admission: Ticket prices and experiences vary by date and package.
