Welcome to Windsor Square

Windsor Square Real Estate

House prices in Windsor Square much higher than average for Los Angeles County. The neighborhood was originally marketed as the most exclusive residential neighborhood in Southern California. It was the first neighborhood in the city to have below-ground power lines, an impressive and innovative feature for the time but a quaint notion by today's standards.

The housing stock in the neighborhood consists of one and two-story single-family homes, mansions, and estates. The earliest homes in Windsor Square, starting in 1911 when the neighborhood was subdivided for development, were CraftsmanBeaux Arts, or Classical Revival style. Starting in the 1920s, residences reflected the popularity of Period Revival architecture including MediterraneanSpanish ColonialTudorEnglishAmerican Colonial, and French styles. During successive decades, Contemporary and California Ranch style homes filled in the remaining, unimproved lots.

Windsor Square will retain its glorious look-and-feel in part due to the Windsor Square Preservation Plan, a set of guidelines governing the preservation and historic architectural character of the neighborhood. The plan was developed when the neighborhood was designated as a Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ) and ensures that the area's charms will endure.
